Touring France by the Caravan and Motorhome Club is the most comprehensive paper campsite guide written in English for France and the 82-pages of touring information make it a valuable guide to take on your touring holiday in France.

The Vicarious view is we would recommend Every Campsite in France if you don't mind that it's written in French as it lists more than four times the amount of campsites, including all of the French municipal campsites. However, the campsites listed in Touring France have been submitted by fellow campers, meaning you can consider them personal recommendations - who would submit a campsite they didn't like?

The French camping parks range from large well known French chains, such as Yelloh! and Kawan Village, to the smaller aire naturelle and municipal sites (marked as camp municipal). There are also a limited number of farm and naturist campsites listed within the guide.

As the campsites are not inspected, entries - including price information - can be up to 6 years old (2012). Dates are provided for when the information was submitted.

Regions covered:
Campsites in France (2151)
Campsites in Andorra (3)
Camp in France with your tent, caravan or motorhome
All the Caravan and Motorhome Club campsite guides provide GPS coordinates and full contact details. The coordinates are printed in the Long and Lat format: 43.69018, 7.15643.

Details and directions are comprehensive, but you have to learn the 200 abbreviations used to convey all aspects of the campsite directions, facilities and prices.

Campsites are marked on the 10 pages of maps at the rear and each entry gives you the map number and grid reference.

Useful travel information for France
Contains all the advice you need on mountain passes, required equipment, speed limits, fuel prices and signs. At the start of each region information on local highlights and attractions are provided. At the rear of the guide, maps detail the campsite locations, indicating which ones are open all year (or at least 11 months of the year).

These guides are ideal for the independent traveller wanting a good cross section of campsites throughout the countries and are extremely helpful when travelling out of season. In short, these are the best paper campsite guides available. We used them extensively when we were full-timing, they are worth every penny.

Travelling anywhere else in Europe?
The Caravan and Motorhome Club also produce campsite guides for Spain and Portugal and the rest of Europe, including Scandinavia and the Baltic countries. Alternatively, the ACSI Camping Card offers off-season discounted rates at 3,330 campsites across Europe.

Travelling to France in a motorhome or campervan?
The essential guidebook for motorhome and campervan trips in France is All the Aires France North and South, the most comprehensive motorhome guidebook available for France. As well as motorhome stopovers across both countries, there is also a list of 700+ LPG/GPL stations across the country.
