A two-week (180km) trek from Donnas to Courmayeur, Aosta valley, Spectacular views of Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn, the Grand Combin and Mont Blanc, The giants of Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn, the Grand Combin and Mont Blanc are your companions during this two-week trek that never fails to inspire and reward. Forming the northeastern half of the Grants' Trail, these snow-clad mountains offer breathtaking views at every turn. Passing close to the Great St Bernard Monastery (with an optional detour described), the route is rich in history and cultural interest. The refuges en route provide a warm welcome, good accommodation and fabulous food, while isolated mountain villages and towns offer other services and supplies. Harder than the Tour of Mont Blanc, but with minimal technical difficult, this trek will provide a suitable challenge for those familiar with Alpine trekking looking for quiet huts and stunning views. Huts are open from late June to early September, The trek can be combined with the Alta Via 2 through the Gran Paradiso to form a full circuit of the Aosta valley - the Giants' Trail Book jacket.
